Hunter Surf Life Saving is excited to be included in the Lifesaver Drone Outreach Program (LDOP) for the April 2025 school holidays delivered by Surf Lifesaving NSW. The Lifesaver Drone Outreach Program (LDOP) for Nippers and Youth Lifesavers is tailored to Nippers (U11-U14) and Youth Lifesavers (14-16) groups. This is a second phase in the LDOP and partners with AUAVS and Shemaps offering SLSC a fully subsidised program for the participants. The young participants can engage with the exciting world of UAVs and learn about potential career pathways in the industries of aviation, science and technology.
The LDOP sessions will engage youth in an educational and interactive experience, providing them with valuable insights in the role of Surf Life Saving and UAV’s as well as practical hands-on experience with drone flight and simple coding exercises. The program prioritises inclusivity and gender diversity, specifically targeting greater female participation in the aviation, science, and technology industries. This will inspire the next generation of Surf Lifesavers and provide a deeper sense of drone safety and awareness among the youth.
